Refunds and Cancellation
Last updated 6 October 2026. Every plan starts with 7 days free. Monthly is month to month, cancel whenever you like. Yearly gives you two months free and 30 days to change your mind. No small print designed to make leaving difficult.
How billing works
You can pay monthly or yearly, in United States dollars, and you pick which when you sign up.
Free trial: every plan starts with 7 days free. Your card is taken at checkout and nothing is charged until day 8. Stripe emails you the first payment date and a cancel link as soon as the trial starts. Cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing at all.
Monthly: Essential $99, Unlimited $149. Billed in advance from the end of the trial, renews each month until you cancel. No setup fee, no contract, no minimum term and no cancellation fee.
Yearly: Essential $990, Unlimited $1,490. That is two months free against the monthly price, paid up front when the trial ends, renewing each year until you cancel. Paying yearly is a commitment to the year, with 30 days from payment to change your mind. If you want to keep things loose, pay monthly.

How to cancel
Email david@upkeepsites.com or call (412) 419-1826 and say you would like to cancel. You do not have to give a reason, sit through a retention call, or fill in a form.
We will confirm in writing the same working day, and tell you the exact date your service ends.

Moving between plans
You can move between Essential and Unlimited whenever you like. Tell us and we will switch it, usually the same day, and there is no fee for switching.
Moving up: you are charged the difference straight away, worked out pro rata for the days left in the period you have already paid for.
Moving down: the unused part of what you paid becomes a credit against your next bill rather than a refund to your card.
If an update means the work outgrows the plan, we will tell you before we start rather than after.

When cancellation takes effect
During the free trial, cancellation takes effect straight away and you are never charged.
On monthly, cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for. You keep the service until that date and you are not billed again. We do not refund part-months. If you cancel on day three of a month you have paid for, the site stays up and updates still get made for the rest of it.
On yearly, cancelling stops the renewal and you keep the service for the remainder of the year you paid for. Within the first 30 days of payment you can have the whole thing back. After that the year is not refundable, in whole or in part.

What happens to your domain and your site
Your domain name is yours. It is registered in your name, not ours, for as long as you have it. When you cancel, it stays registered to you and we will help you point it at whatever you move to next, at no charge. We will never hold it hostage.
The website itself stays with us. The design, the build and the hosted files remain the property of Upkeep Sites, and we keep possession and control of them. The site is provided to you as part of your monthly service rather than sold to you, which is why the price is a subscription and not a one-off build fee. When your subscription ends, we stop serving the site.
So that there is no surprise: you leave with your domain name, your own content (your text, your logo and your photographs are always yours) and any material you gave us. You do not leave with the built website.

Ask before you sign up if that matters to you, and we will talk it through. It is a normal way to sell a care plan, but it is better understood on day one than on the day you leave.
Refunds
On monthly, because it is billed in advance with no minimum term, the usual answer is that you simply cancel and are not billed again, rather than being refunded.
On yearly, there is one clear rule: 30 days from the date you paid, full refund, no questions. After 30 days the year is not refundable.
Beyond that, we will refund you where:
• You were charged after you asked to cancel.
• You were charged twice for the same period.
• We were unable to deliver the service for a substantial part of a period you paid for.
• You paid your first month and we had not yet published anything for you. In that case ask, and we will refund it in full.

To ask for a refund, email david@upkeepsites.com with the date of the charge. We aim to reply within one working day. Approved refunds go back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, and usually appear within five to ten business days depending on your bank.
If you think a charge is wrong, please contact us before raising a dispute with your bank. It is almost always faster to sort out directly.
